Fall is here and the temperatures are dropping. There are times that we turn the heat on to take the chill out of the house. Our furnace is forced gas air. That makes the air in the house really dry. With the falling temps comes a cold chihuahua. Scooby Doo does not like to be without his sweater, shirt or blanket for very long. The dry heat, the sweaters and just a lack of moisture in his skin can sure make his dander act up. He gets itchy and his fur looks like it has dandruff all over it.
Last year around this time of the year, our vet had recommended some eye drops for our blind spaniel. Jenny Sue doesn't blink her eyes as much as she should so her eyeballs get really dry. The vet told ma to get eye lubricant drops that were formulated for dogs and not humans. We headed to the store to see what they had for eyes. We looked around at PetSmart and came across some eye drops made by Bayer. We have always trusted the brand for their flea and tick treatments that we use so ma thought the eye drops would be perfect. PetSmart was having a sale on the Bayer® ExpertCareTM products. Ma grabbed the eye drops but that sale price if she bought another product was very tempting. She grabbed the eye drops and since we were in the market for a new shampoo that was soap- free and gentle on the skin, she started reading the labels. She found a moisturizing shampoo that said it smelled like coconut. SOLD! She plopped it in the cart and off we went.
Soap-free shampoo is great for any type of fur or hair. It is non drying, helps fur dry faster and usually you don't have to follow up with a conditioner which makes baths shorter. I know I like when I get to skip the second step of a bath. It seems that conditioner takes twice as long to rinse off than the shampoo!
We loved the shampoo! It made my hair so soft and I smelled so good. I dried faster and my hair was light and springy, not weighed down. During my last bath, ma said she needed to pick up some more shampoo next time we went to the store. Ma got excited when the call went out for bloggers to talk about Bayer ExpertCareTM products. We applied and crossed our fingers. If I am going to talk about the products I love, its nice to make some treat money while I talk about them. We are buying them regardless if we got paid for it or not!
Do I really need a bath? |
Ma brushed Scooby the other day and noticed his skin was getting really dry again. She had bought the moisturizing shampoo and a couple of other products within the same line, which we will talk about in the coming months. Scooby was due (PAST DUE) for his bath. He wasn't smelling too fresh and his coat felt dirty when you petted him.
Sorry Scooby but you had to have a bath. If you are determined to lay on me, I prefer you to be clean. Ma put him in the tub and wet him down. She put a nickle size of the moisturizing shampoo in her hands and started washing Scooby with it. Great thing about soap-free shampoo is you don't have to use a lot of it. The Bayer ExpertCare moisturizing shampoo lathers up well. Its also great to use in between flea treatments because it doesn't strip the treatment off of your dog's fur like soap type shampoos do.
It has a wonderful light scent of coconut. Its not overpowering and it smells like FRESH coconut. Ma says she can really tell the difference when using a soap-free shampoo on us. Her hands don't feel dry and our hair doesn't feel squeaky clean, like no oil left clean. It feels natural, it feels healthy and it feels grime free. The moisturizing shampoo leaves you clean without striping the natural oils out. This is tear-free, Soap-free formulation with moisturizers and essential fatty acids for cleansing, replenishing moisture and protecting skin. Since Scooby has a short coat, it takes almost no time to dry his fur. Ma uses a cool dryer on him and it takes about 5 minutes.
After his bath he felt much better. His skin wasn't as dry as it was before his bath. I know he sure smells better and had to be relieved that he wasn't itching as bad. His coat is so shiny and soft.
Hope you try the shampoo because it works for me. |
I will give this shampoo, 4 paws up and give it a stamp of Poodale Approved. This is a shampoo that we love. There are other formulas to choose from. They have healthy coat shampoo, anti-itch, moisturizing along with pet wipes. They even have products for cats! I love the Bayer Expert Care line. Its a staple in our home.
We want to feel like we went to the spa when we get bathed at home and Bayer Expert Care products do just that.
Next time you are at PetSmart check out the Bayer line of products. We have a couple more items we picked up from the Bayer aisle that we are excited to try out. I will let you know what we think of them in the coming months.
I am a honest girl and I will give you a honest opinion. I won't talk about a product that I am not happy with. I could talk about the Bayer Expert Care line all day. So far the eye drops are working well for Jenny Sue and the shampoo is working great for us.
Have you tried any of the Bayer Expert Care products?
If not, would you be willing to? Let me hear what you have to say!
Have a beautiful day,
Carma Poodale
Huh, Carma...I have never seen this shampoo before. It sounds perfect since it isn't drying to the skin and won't strip off any flea/tick treatments. I may have to sniff this out the next time we are shopping!
ReplyDeleteWe found it last year and loved it. It is definitely our favorite shampoo. I just wish someone would stop buying all the whitening shampoo before I got there! I want to try it too but its always out of stock. grr
DeleteLooks like something we should check out.
ReplyDeleteThey have shampoos and conditioners for all coats. We love this line of shampoos. The scent smells like real coconut and not that fake smells
DeleteLooks like good stuff!
ReplyDeleteIt is. Ma loves the smell and the softness that it leaves our fur. I have hair and it does wonders for it.
DeleteThat's some good stuff you got there
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Its excellent stuff. Hope you try one of the formulas for yourself.
DeleteOooh we use the Bayer line and have not tried the shampoo but now we plan to.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you found a shampoo that works for Scooby! Freshly bathed dogs are the best!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great shampoo! I might have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteGinger is 10 now. We never really have given her baths that often, but now that she is getting older, her coat seems to get oily / dirty much faster. She always looks much nicer after a good bath.
Thanks for the recommendation!
This shampoo is gentle enough to use more than once a week if needed. There isn't any soap ingredients that will dry the skin out. It really helps to improve Scooby's dry skin so he can go longer between baths.
DeleteI had never heard of soapless shampoo before (I don't think). Glad you've found something that works well - for all the dogs! Scooby Doo is so adorable, especially in the tub. :) I need to find some of that stuff just to smell it, now. I use coconut water shampoo in my own hair (it has soap, though, I think, but no sulfates). I would love the corgis to smell like fresh coconut!
ReplyDeleteYou will be pleasantly surprised how soft their coats will be too. We used to use baby shampoo since it was the only soapless type we could find but once we found this shampoo, we stopped using the other stuff.
DeleteWe're excited to try our products!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your results and how you like it.
DeleteYou all look wonderful Carma! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteSince we've moved, I've ordered a grooming table and will start bathing the boys more at home - so shampoo's are on my list to stock up on, thanks so much for this post.
